KU Loss to OU

Anchors Alex and Kristina give a rundown of KU football's most recent loss against OU. Reesing did not show up for the game mentally and his lack of focus hurt the team. For the first time in 24 games, Reesing did not score a single touchdown. KU's defense held OU to 375 yards and proved they know how to show up for a game. Branstetter showed great improvements as a reliable kicker. He had a 57 yard field goal, which is the fourth longest in KU history. His enthusiasm after the kick helped to raise spirits at halftime. http://www.kuathletics.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/branstetter_jacob00.html

Defense to Lead the Team

Alex and Kristina discuss the upcoming game against Texas Tech. It will come down to the consistency of Texas Tech's quarterbacks, but their loss to Texas A&M sheds a positive light for KU's chance of a win. With Sharp still out and Reesing slacking on the field, KU's defense will need to step up and lead the team. A win against Texas Tech could help to restore football teams reputation, which is steadily declining. A win could help to keep fans optimistic about the rest of the season. http://www.kuathletics.com/sports/m-footbl/sched/kan-m-footbl-sched.html

Freshmen Lead Tennis

JST reporter Katie Priebe spotlights the KU women's tennis team, which ended the season with a split, but still managed to keep their enthusiasm strong and play well. They dominated in singles against Minnesota and St. Louis, and were led by their freshmen players to success at KU and Oklahoma. Assistant coach comments that the team is dominantly freshmen, and although they show talent, there is still room to grow and improve. Tennis is on the right track for the opening of their Spring season, which begins January 30.

Soccers Chances are Slim

JST reporter, Peter Espinosa gives an update of the KU women's soccer team. KU lost 4-7, which can partly be blamed on the fact that the team focused on one star Nebraska player, rather than the entire team. The game featured 11 goals total, which is a national record for the number of goals scored in one game. The five seniors on the team need to step up and be leaders, or their chances at the NCAA will be gone. If they come out strong against Missouri, they could have a shot at their 10th year in a row in the Big 12 championships.

Jay Hawk For a Cure

JST' reporter, Aaron Francis profiles KU's volleyball team which suffered a three set loss. The most dramatic loss being to Missouri, which is the second time KU has lost to MU season. The team's next match is Tuesday against the UMKC Kangaroos. During a live call in, JST anchor, Kyle West, updates us from the Horejsi Family Athletics Center. KU is leading in their first set 16-10. Most of the crowd is wearing pink to support the Jay Hawk's For a Cure, which is for Breast Cancer Awareness. At this point in the Big 12 tournament, KU's record is 4-7. http://www.kuathletics.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/102609aaa.html
