A fire that started early on the morning of Oct. 7 at Boardwalk Apartments, near 6th and Kasold, killed three residents. Jason Allen Rose, a 20-year-old Lawrence resident, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated arson in relation with the fire. Fire victim lost everything
KU student David Heller, Manhattan senior, lost everything in the fire that destroyed 76 units of the Boardwalk Apartments. Heller said he hung from his third-story window for about 20 minutes before jumping. He landed on the hood of a car and escaped without injury. He said his biggest concern was finding another place to stay.
