KU dinning services is preparing to serve students a Holiday Feast and KU dining cook Jim Carroll is ready to hit the kitchen.

Carroll cooks a variety of food such as omelets, pancakes, oriental food and whatever the students request. As an induction cook, Carroll literally caters to the students needs by whipping up their special requests.

Its not the cooking that Carroll looks forward to every morning; its the interaction with the students that he enjoys most. Carroll's co-workers say he is a people person and that makes the environment a little more fun.

"When the girls come in it's fun for them to get to talk to him. And he loves that too," said Jenny Geide, KU Dining Employee.

Carroll has been working for KU dining for 12 years and has spend the past three in GSP cafeteria.

Outside of the dormitory cafeteria, you can still find Carroll in the kitchen, but it in his own home. But Carroll says he'd rather be cooking on campus.

"It gives me a thrill," he said. "People like my food; they enjoy eating it. And they tell their friends and their friends come and it too. So its real fun."

Carroll will be carving the Thanksgiving turkey for the 13th time this year at the dinning hall celebration. And as much as he enjoys carving the turkey, Carroll said its the conversation that he is most excited for.
