The football team's success during the past year has fulfilled coach Mark Mangino's goal of getting a brand new football building right outside Memorial Stadium, as well as new practice fields. But football isn't the only sport that is seeing improvements to its facilities because of the University's recent victories.

"Many people don't realize that football and basketball pay for all the other sports at KU," says associate athletics director Jim Marchiony. "All the opportunities that all those young men and women have, they're essentially funded by the football and basketball programs."

The KU baseball team is benefiting from the success of the University's major revenue sports, as the team has a new clubhouse being funded by alumni that is currently under construction near Hoglund Ballpark.

The baseball team has experienced some inconveniences because of the construction, but head baseball coach Ritch Price says it's a small price to pay for multiple facility upgrades.

"It's a great upgrade for our athletic department. It's a great upgrade, obviously, for our fan base," Price says. "It's something they'll enjoy for years to come."

The construction site for the team's new clubhouse is located southwest of Allen Fieldhouse. The track and soccer teams are also working on getting a new complex for themselves.

The athletics department has reached its current fundraising goal for the baseball team's clubhouse, and is currently working on funding new offices for these teams and their administrations.
