For more than 50 years, music therapy has been offered as a major at the University of Kansas. The program utilizes music as a therapeutic way to help people overcome any number of physical and mental problems.
A bill proposed by a Kansas state representative contains new regulations for what it calls "sexually-oriented businesses." The executive director of the National Coalition for the protection of children and families says regulations are necessary to protect citizens from harmful secondary effects of sexually-oriented businesses. By the end of summer, Wichita will enforce a smoking ban. The City Council approved the compromise ordinance Tuesday. The ordinance bans smoking smoking in all places where people under 18 can work or visit, but it will allow companies that want to allow smoking to purchase a $250 permit.
