The African Student Association will perform its annual spring culture show this Sunday to educate students about African culture. The show, "Sissi Muka Afrika," which means "Rise Up Africa" in Swahili, will feature music and dancing.

The ASA includes students from more than 12 countries in Africa. Member Ainehi Edoro said the group hoped the event would help erase stereotypes of Africa by portraying the country in a modern image.

"You know when people think about Africa, they think about rural country, things like that," Edoro said. "We wanted to show people that there is a lot more going on in Africa, especially in African cities, you have wonderful nightlife."

The show will begin at 6 p.m. in Woodruff Auditorium in the Kansas Union. A dinner will follow the show for $5 per person.
