Jayhawk fans lined up outside downtown Lawrence bars early Monday morning, hoping to scope a seat for the NCAA championship game.

Some students ditched classes nearly 12 hours before tip-off.

“I’ve been here since 7:45 this morning,” Alex Wiebel, a KU student said. “I missed all four of my classes, I really don’t care cause today is the national championship KU’s bringing it home.”

Alumni also spent the morning hours anticipating a Jayhawk victory.

“Come on baby this is our year!” said an excited fan.

The anticipation of a victory is getting everyone into the spirit.

“I’m a Kansas girl, born and bred, and you better get in there and win or I’ll kick the Kansas hochanes,” another fan said.

KU fans wanting to watch the game in a more subtle environment can join the watch party at Allen Fieldhouse.
