Oread gets smoked out

Building staff said fire alarms didn't go off, but the Adams Alumni Center was evacuated this afternoon and emergncy crews were called after some employees noticed the smell of smoke in the building.

The fire department traced the smoke to an electrical malfunction in the attic. Problems with the air conditioner caused the smokey day, no other probelms were detected.

Oread Avenue was blocked off by police and fire personel as the buildung was evacuated. Employees were allowed back in to the building after an hour when the emergency crews deemed the building safe.
