Beds, pillows and textbooks fill up the perimeter of "the Phog". It's clear--basketball season is back for the Jayhawks.

Student camping groups have waited for days to get prominent seats for Friday's home opener against Louisiana Monroe. In one of the many celebrated KU traditions, student groups add their names to a list and require a group member present at all times to remain on that list. Random roll calls bump missing groups down to the bottom of the list.

Student Tyler Perkins said his frat was one of the faithful groups.

"We've been here since 11:30 today, but a group from our fraternity, Delta Upsilon, has been here camping out for the last few days, getting here at like six in the morning, just camping all day," Perkins said. "We do shifts to make sure we get good seats for the game."

The Athletics Department allots about 1/4 of the seats for students, and campers are the first fans admitted into Allen Fieldhouse.
