The answer to how many trees are on campus is just one of many questions answered on the KU info web site. For the past three months, students have relied solely on the web site for answers to their campus related questions. Starting Monday, however, KU info once again has a live person to answer questions by phone and in person.

Curtis Marsh, Program Director, said the services are vital to students.

"Any large institution, like KU, can become confusing at one point or another in a student's life," Marsh said. "Whether it's enrollment, or add/drop, or even commencement, there's a lot to know to make sure that students have a successful experience here. That's the whole reason KU info exists."

The KU info booth was formerly located in Anschutz Library but has been closed since December. The new KU info headquarters is located on the fourth floor of the Kansas Union. Initially, the walk-up booth will be open Monday through Friday from noon to nine at night. Marsh said the first few weeks will serve as a test to see when the service is in high demand.

In addition to the live person inside the booth, there will now be an information kiosk outside the booth. This allows users to look up answers to their own questions at any hour.

Sara Koven, KU senior, said the new live booth and kiosk will be well received by students.

"I just think it's a lot easier to use because I feel like calling someone is kind of awkward. There's that interaction," Koven said. "This you can do on your own time, any time you need it. The Union's always open so it's a lot more convenient. I bet a lot of people will use it a lot more."

In case you were wondering, the KU campus has a total of 17,900 trees.
