This year the University of Kansas Athletic Department has promised students an easier option to go to basketball games.
Students will be able to get into the game with just a KUID. Instead of standing in line to pick up tickets, they will have the option of reserving the first 3,800 tickets online. All the students will have to do is log on to the athletic department's web site.
Like last year, there will be three to five games available during each sign-up period. Students can add the desired games to their shopping carts and check out. But they will be charged $1 for each game.
The ticket lottery will work the same way. If students are picked, they, too, can reserve their tickets through the athletic department web site. The web site, however, is not up yet. The game will be saved to their KUIDs. At the game, ticket collectors will simply swipe the student's ID card.
But if students have holds on their cards, they will not be admitted.
Jim Marchiony, associate athletics director, said, "If a student has any question about his or her ID card, take the time and once before the season starts to come down to Allen Fieldhouse and let us test it to make sure it works."
Students will still have the option of standing in line for tickets. Marchiony said that if students reserved a ticket online, they should print the receipt and bring it to the game.
